Where to donate to people who've lost their homes in the LA fires
Across LA County, over 12,000 structures have been destroyed

Update: Thank you to everyone who has shared “the master list.” What began as a list of under 40 GoFundMe has grown, and grown, and grown into a document of over 1000 fundraising campaigns. I could have never imagined this when I first released my list on the morning of Thursday, January 9th. It wouldn’t have been possible without my team of friends who’ve volunteered to help with the maintenance so that my quote unquote regular life can continue without leaving this project behind. I deeply appreciate all of the support, all of the shares, and all of the donations that have taken place since then.
The list is now exclusively being presented on Google Sheets. This allows me to present the listings in ascending order of percentage raised. It also allows the information to be automatically updated each hour, rather than manually updated a few times a day.
Doing our best to help get each and every one of these fundraisers across the percentage raised finish line is of the utmost importance right now. Please know that sharing this list—or whichever resource you so choose—really does help get more donations for these fundraisers.
I’m still taking submissions for the list, which can be sent here via Google Form. At this time I do not need any additional volunteers, though I appreciate each and every person who has reached out to offer their time.
Abbreviated version of the original post text:
Hi! I have been completely torn up about the fires across LA County. I live in New York now, but I have spent quite a bit of time on the westside of LA, where my partner’s family lives, for almost a decade. They lost their home in the Palisades fire. I used to live on the east side in Highland Park, near Altadena and Pasadena, which have also been hit by fire. Across the county, some of my favorite places in Los Angeles have burned to the ground. The list of friends of friends who have lost their homes is only getting longer.
A city is only as vibrant as the people in it and many Los Angeles residents are preparing to completely rebuild their lives right now. There’s only so much we can do from afar (and, to say the least, when climate change, faulty government, and mismanagement of resources are to blame here) but I want to do what I can to make things easier for those who’ve lost their homes.
Additional Resources
If you have made a GoFundMe for your own home, please review this information about how fundraising may impact FEMA eligibility.
If you or a loved one in LA are looking for on the ground resources, Courtney Wittich has compiled a list that includes those resources, as well as relief funds that you can donate to here.
Additional crowdfunding lists (not compiled by myself) include: the Displaced Black Families of Altadena & Pasadena GoFundMe Directory, the Displaced Latine Families - LA Fires Mutual Aid Directory, and the Displaced Disabled Folks- LA Fires Mutual Aid Directory. Please note that there is overlap between these lists and the fundraising links provided in our spreadsheet.
ADDING THIS HERE FOR ANYONE THAT MISSED IT IN THE POST - Please submit new links via this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeqKbSJ_mQtpVqw6F-CNMudvS1_sWE1pA8lasw-SgTPMWP06A/viewform?usp=header This helps me keep track of everything in one place (vs. juggling substack comments + dms, ig comments + dms, and emails) so that no links get lost in the shuffle. I'm getting this list updated as quickly as I can after links are sent. Sending love to everyone who has been affected by the wildfires ❤️
